I went to calculate postage at www.usps.com when I saw this:
Apparently, you can ship live animals via the US Post Office. I was surprised to learn this. But I guess if you want your fresh organic free range chicken really, really fresh, then this is the way to do it.
The link takes you here: http://pe.usps.com/text/pub52/pub52c5_002.htm which describes the policy. Basically you can ship poultry and birds with no food or water as that damages the shipping container. It seems the shipping is only a day or so.
Call me a city slicker but hopefully it doesn’t hurt the birds too much.
