Last weekend I was volunteering in the archives at the Bishop Museum and found a film of my grandparent’s wedding. Miraculously, someone filmed the wedding on an old Super8 film camera.
Now I had to find someone who had a Super8 projector, but I called around and was eventually able to find one to rent. Of course, I invested the money to see this film. And I’m glad I did. I was able to peer into the lives of my grandparents and see them young and in love. It was a rare treat and I am glad I had the opportunity to see it.
I can not get over how happy and in love they were. It’s funny how you grow up with a certain perception of the people you love. Then you get an opportunity to see them like this in a totally different light. It is really cool. And of course, I am going to get this transferred to digital so that my grandchildren can see it.
What if I told you I found a copy of a wedding film of your grandparent’s wedding?
Would you want to see it? I bet you would.
